Rich History and Medieval Beauty
Bayeux is a medieval French town in the region of Lower Normandy, known for the 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry which depicts scenes from the conquest of England by William the Conquerer in 1066. Registered by UNESCO as ‘Memory of the World’, this historic tapestry is 70 metres long and gives us information about the way of life in the Middle Ages.
The Norman-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral has impressive stained glass windows, bas-relief sculptures and a crypt with 15th-century frescoes beneath its floor. Consecrated in 1077, this structure is the place where the Bayeux Tapestry was kept for about seven centuries.
Opened in 1864, the botanical garden of Bayeux, which is home to the popular Weeping Beech tree and about 400 more trees, is open daily for free. You can wander around the picturesque old part of the city or visit the vibrant city centre with the modern shops and restaurants.

I am trying to update my review of La Cour Royale but the site is not letting me. I answered no breakfast - this was an answer to a Booking.com question and not a put down on the accommodation - it was a flat and I did not expect breakfast. I also put a rating of 5 out of ten for staff because this was a flat and I didn’t expect staff! I hope this clears this up. The city is beautiful and easy to get around in by foot. We enjoyed seeing the Cathedral and The Tapestry as well as a couple restaurants and an awesome pastry shop. Taxi service is limited (allow plenty of time to await a taxi). Uber service did not exist.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Bayeux is a lovely town and very central to all of the D Day...
Bayeux is a lovely town and very central to all of the D Day beaches and many other interesting places related to WW2. The town is not too big so a lot can be seen in a reasonable space of time. The British memorial cemetery there is one of the most poignant I visited.ViviennePortugal - 10Scored 10

We came to Bayeux to see the Tapestry.
We came to Bayeux to see the Tapestry. I was looking forward to it and it was even better than I had expected. Bayeux is a lovely town with interesting things to do and see, such as the Cathedral and the Art Museum. The people are very friendly and the food is great.

Selma and Gregory were exceptionally welcoming, the hotel is charming and comfortable, a mix of modern amenities in an historic French chapel complex set in the heart of lovely Bayeux. The attached cafe, called Selma Alabama, serves coffee, pastries and a delicious breakfast, also recommended. A great assortment of brasseries surround the hotel for plenty of dinner options and there are great shopping options nearby as well. I would return here if traveling to Normandie.DavidUnited States

Clean and comfortable room with a balcony and view to the cathedral. Parking was across the street in a car park but the host gave you a ticket so no fee for it. The room was a good size with a comfy bed and pillows. Tea and coffee was available in the room which is a bonus on France. The host is very friendly and helpful and can understand English which is always a bonus. Breakfast was traditional french.

They even adjusted the be configuration for us, and the staff of the hotel that manages the house was always available for what we needed, from getting a taxi to letting us borrow an iron when we needed it. We could walk to the Cathedral, Bayeux Tapestry, the Museum of the Battle of Normandy, and restaurants. The onsite restaurant was a plus. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. With one exception, the staff were kind and helpful.
